Robert David Noyes

February 6, 1942 — July 25, 2005

Robert David "Dave" Noyes, age 63, of Summerville, died Monday, July 25, 2005 at his home following an extended illness. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Summerville Cemetery. Those who wish may make contributions in his memory to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon 97850.

Dave was born on February 6, 1942, the son of Claude M. and Leona (Alderman) Noyes in Walla Walla, Washington. He attended schools in Imbler and then moved to Aberdeen and worked with his brother as a typewriter mechanic. He later moved to Forks, Washington and lived and worked in logging camps. He moved back to Oregon in 1960 and worked for Boise for 43 and ½ years, the last 27 of which he worked in the log yard. On October 2, 1962 he married Ardith Churchill in Elgin. In the 1970's he and his brother, Tom, purchased the family farm and ran it for several years. They also owned rental property in Elgin during that time and were known as the "Noyes Boys". For several years during the 1980's he and friend, Larry Hallgarth, put on gun shows. In the late 1980's he and brother-in-law, Cecil Churchill, raised Limousine Bulls.

Dave was a dedicated family man and a true friend. He loved fishing, hunting, guns, gathering huckleberries, mushrooms and wood. He enjoyed going to yard sales and loved to make a good trade. He enjoyed traveling to Alaska to hunt and fish and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Adith Noyes of Summerville; children, Mindy Noyes of Elgin, Lona Noyes White of Alaska and Doug and Kathy Noyes of Elgin; grandchildren, Amber Cortez, David Lambert, Kaylee, Jacob & Cole Noyes, Forest Grover Farris III; great grandchildren, Larissa and Kimberly Cortez and Elijah, Ian and Kaden Deane; sister-in-law, Patty Noyes of Ocean Park, Washington and Mexico; and other relatives and friends. His parents and three brothers preceded him in death.
