Robert A. "Bob" Morgan, age 72, died October 8, 2004 at Emmanuel Hospital in Portland. Bob was born in Spokane on February 9, 1932 to John and Bessie Morgan. He grew up in Suquamish, Washington where he was an accomplished athlete while attending North Kitsap High School. Following graduation from high school, Bob worked in Seattle at the American Can Company. In 1964 he met and married his wife, Joleah Stinnett. He helped raise three children and provided a sense of humor and security in the process. He coached various athletic teams for his children and was an active and influential participant in their lives. In 1974, Bob and Jo moved to Union where they owned and operated the Union Tavern and Grille. Bob was known for his storytelling ability and love of all sporting events. He had a vast knowledge of sports information which he used in creating sporting propositions over the years at the Union Tavern. Bob enjoyed people immensely and was a familiar figure to children and adults in the Union area.
He is survived by his wife, Jo, and sister, Shirley Strathman of Suquamish. Other survivors are children, Scott Tibbling of Walla Walla, Robb Tibbling of New Britain, Conn. and Nancy Boslau of La Grande; 9 grandchildren; a great grand-daughter and 35 nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Celebration of life, with casual dress, services will be held at the First Christian Church, 901 Penn Avenue, La Grande at 3:00 p.m. Thursday. A potluck gathering will be held following the service at the Union Tavern in Union. The family requests that donations be made to the Union High School athletic department. Viewing will be at Loveland Funeral Chapel from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.
