Robert Neal Johnson

Robert Neal Johnson, 47, of La Grande, died Nov. 25 at a local nursing center.

A memorial service for Robert Neal Johnson, who died Nov. 25, will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9th at Summerville Cemetery.

Robert was born Feb. 13, 1963, to Silas James and Velma Lorene (Lewis) Johnson in La Grande.

He graduated from high school in La Grande and attended ITT Technical Institute in Portland.

He married Melva Walker and they had two sons, David and Albert. Robert and Melva later divorced.

Those who knew Robert say he was a great mechanic. He worked for several auto companies in Boise and Portland. He loved to work on and ride bicycles. He enjoyed mushroom hunting and fishing.

Survivors are his two sons, David Neal and Albert Wayne Johnson of La Grande; mother, Velma of La Grande; siblings and their spouses, Paul and Patsy Johnson of Elgin, Carol and Steve Craig of Summerville, Sandra and Jon Crawford of Island City, David Johnson and partner, Marta, of Umatilla and Thomas and Patty Johnson of La Grande; three grandchildren; 13 nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, Silas; and his brother, James Jerry Johnson.
