Robert "Bob" Howard, age 63, of La Grande died June 22, 2005 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee after a long illness. An informal celebration of life will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday at the La Grande Country Club.
"Bob" was born November 13, 1941 to Bob and Lovell Howard in La Grande. He graduated from La Grande High School in 1959, went on to attended Eastern Oregon College for two years, then continued his education at the University of California, Berkeley. He worked for Schilling before going to work for IBM as a trouble shooter. He retired from IBM after 25 years after moving to Boulder, Colorado. He involved himself with the community, wrote the monthly newsletter for a local golf club and worked as Supervisor of the mail room at Walsenberg Prison. Bob enjoyed golf and many other outdoor activities. He had a passion for photography and was a prfessional photographer for several years. Astronomy was another love of his. He and his beloved Rocky returned to this area in 2003.
Survivors include his son, Sean Howard and 2 grandsons of Seattle, his daughter, Trisha Stanley, her husband Kerry and ther 2 sons of Franklin, Tennessee; a brother, Mike Howard and wife, Kolleen of Tucker, Georgia, sister, Candy Brooks and husband, Robert of La Grande and numerous other relatives. Both parents preceded him in death.
