Robert "Bob" Dale Van Housen

Robert "Bob" Dale Van Housen, 87, of Santa Cruz, Calif., and formerly of Union, died Aug. 27 at a hospital in Las Vegas.

Memorial services were held in Santa Cruz earlier this month. He was buried in Santa Cruz Memorial Park.

Bob was born to Giles and Eddie Van Housen in Union. He graduated from Union High School in 1937. He served in the Air Force in World War II.

He retired from the Santa Cruz Post Office in 1981 and began traveling with his wife in their motor home for 13 years.

Bob was a lifetime member of the Santa Cruz Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Cloe Van Housen; daughter, Kathi McConkey of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren; sister, Donna Brooks of Union and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Verle and brothers, Neal and Bud.
