Robert Kent Frash, age 82, of La Grande, died April 5, 2014 at his home. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Grandview Cemetery. Those who wish may make contributions in his memory to the GRH Foundation for ICU in care of Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.Robert was born on March 15, 1932, the son of Clyde Dewey and Winnie (Gerry) Frash in Baker, Oregon. He was raised in Enterprise and graduated from high school there. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served twenty years before his honorable discharge as a Chief Petty Officer. On May 26, 1957 he married Donna Blacker in Weiser, Idaho. They moved to La Grande in 1969 and he worked as a custodian for the public schools for 20 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve, VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed hunting for arrowheads and making arrowheads. He collected old bottles, coins and stamps and enjoyed wood carving. He was a talented mechanic and worked on his own cars and taught his son everything about working on cars.Survivors include his wife, Donna Frash of La Grande; son, Randy Frash of La Grande; grandchild, Alaina Siler of Hermiston; three great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by brother, Charles Frash and daughter, Debbie Volavchek in 2005.
