Robert Gene Flowers, age 77 of La Grande, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at his home. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Summerville Cemetery.
Robert Flowers was born on August 4, 1928, the son of Jake and Alene Flowers near Chandler, Oklahoma. At an early age the family moved to California during the depression. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard towards the end of World War II and the beginning of the Korean War. After his service to his country, Robert spent the greater part of his life working as a plumber pipe fitter in locations all over the Western United States. He later retired from Hanford and in 1992, relocated to the Grande Ronde Valley. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Robert F. and daughter-in-law Lorrie Flowers of Summerville and Terri Brown of Hermiston, Oregon; five grandchildren; brothers, Howard Vincent of Houghson, California, John Vincent of Sacramento, California and other relatives and friends. His parents, a brother, Jimmy Flowers and a sister Alta Caulkins all preceded him in death.
