Robert "Bob" Fawcett Sr., 88, of Desert Hot Springs, Calif., and formerly of Union, died Oct. 15.

He was born April 14, 1922, in Ohio. He and his family moved to Southern California in 1950. He was a tool designer in the aerospace industry for more than 30 years.
He was proud of being a U.S. Marine during WWII and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 307 in North Hollywood Calif., which was a big part of his life. He was also a member of the VFW, Elks and the Masons.
Bob was married for 36 years to his first wife, Grace E Carlile, who died in Union in May of 1982. Bob married his present wife, Alma A. Penrose, in February of 1983.
Bob and Alma were residents of Union for 12 years before they began traveling in their RV. They did so for nine years, making many friends along the way. They have been residents of Desert Hot Springs for eight years and have made many close friends.
Bob took great pride in caring for his cactus garden and spent many hours enjoying it. He was active in the American Legion Boys State Program for many years.
Bob Sr. is survived by daughters, Jan and Pam; son, Robert Jr.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; present wife, Alma A. Penrose; step-sons, Denny and Jeff; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
