Richard "Dick" Partney, age 60, of La Grande, died Friday, August 9, 2002 at his home in La Grande.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at the North Powder Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.
Mr. Partney was born on July 5, 1942, the son of Russell and Thelma (Huffman) Partney in Milton-Freewater. He graduated from MacHigh with the class of 1960. On September 27, 1963 he married Merry Anne Luck in Pilot Rock. The marriage later ended in divorce. He later married Iris Doherty and she preceded him in death.
Mr. Partney was a self-employed contractor and served with the Oregon National Guard. He lived in Pilot Rock most of his adult life and had recently moved to La Grande to be near family. He was a member of the Pendleton Elks Lodge. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid trap shooter. His greatest joy came from being a Dad and Grandfather and spent lot of time with his children in their growing up years.
Survivors include his mother, Thelma Draper of La Grande; children, Mary Cameron Partney of Madras, Michael James Partney of La Grande, Joseph Hastings Partney of La Grande and Curtis Ray Partney of Milton-Freewater; nine grandchildren; brother, Fred Partney of Orofino, Idaho; and other relatives and friends.
Those who wish may make contributions in memory of Mr. Partney to the GRH Home Care Services in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon 97850.
