Richard Shawn Compere, 50, of Caldwell, Idaho, and formerly of La Grande, died Feb. 19 at his home. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Loveland Funeral Chapel.
Shawn was born Sept. 12, 1960, at Pendleton Junction, one of the five sons of his mother, Theresa. He grew up in Mountain View, Calif., where he graduated from high school. He began his career managing apartment buildings and was a property manager up until his death.
From an early age, Shawn's family says he displayed extraordinary talent with his hands. At the age of 7, he took apart a watch and put it together again in perfect working order, to the amazement of his mother. By 12, he was a skilled wood worker and enjoyed making furniture. By the age of 17, he was an expert at electrical wiring. He completely dissembled the engine of his car and put it back together in perfect working order.
Those who knew him say his skills and talents were invaluable in his management business.
Shawn is survived by his mother, Theresa Aston of La Grande. He was preceded in death by his four brothers, Donald, Stephen, Lucien and Charles.
