Rex Lee Clinkenbeard

Rex Lee Clinkenbeard, 55, of La Grande lost a three-year battle with cancer at his home July 2.

Rex was born Jan. 19, 1952, at Russell, Kan., to Fern Ilene (Harbaugh) and Kenneth Lowell Clinkenbeard.

He graduated from Elgin High School in 1971. On Aug. 8, 1971, Rex married Laura Kay Ramsey of La Grande.

Rex was an avid fisherman. He was a talented builder who owned his own business, Clinkenbeard Contracting, for the last 15 years, family members said.

Survivors include his wife, Laura, mother, Fern, and sons, Lee and Andrew Clinkenbeard, all of La Grande; brothers, Alan Dale of Joseph, Douglas Clinkenbeard of Hermiston and Terry Clinkenbeard of Imbler, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father and his brother Lowell.
