Raymond Leland Fenn

November 23, 1925 — April 12, 2009

Raymond Leland Fenn, age 83, of La Grande, died Sunday at a Boise hospital. A celebration of life will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street in La Grande.

Mr. Fenn was born on November 23, 1925, the son of Leland Thomas and Mary (Harris) Fenn in Huntington, Oregon. He attended schools in Huntington and college in La Grande for a time before enlisting in the United States Navy. He served our country during World War II in the South Pacific. On April 24, 1947 he married Virginia White in Weiser, Idaho. He worked as a chemist for the cement plants in Lime and Baker City. In 1957 they moved to La Grande and he worked for Borden Chemical until his retirement in December of 1990.
The Fenns were active members of the Star Promanader's Square Dance Club. He was a member of the VFW and Fort Union Grange. He enjoyed wood working and made incredibly beautiful furniture. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, huckleberry picking and wood cutting. He loved to work in his garden and enjoyed his many flowers. He was a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Fenn of La Grande; children and their spouses, Steven and Teresa Fenn of Pendleton, Dennis and Karen Fenn of La Grande and Sonja Fenn of East Wenatchee, Washington; 10 grandchildren, Steven Fenn, Jr., Mandy Decker (John), Courtney Myers (Chris), Travis Stecher, Tyler Fenn, Dennis Fenn, Jr (Sara), Jackie Harvey, Debra Slaten, Tonia Stanfield (Robert), Mary Truitt (Brian); 16 great grandchildren, Baylee Stecher
Kaden Myers, Gaven Stecher,Jackson Decker, Spencer Decker, Levi Fenn, Breanna Harvey, Makayla Strole, Taelor McBee, Gabrielle Stanfield,
Noah Stanfield, Hanna Stanfield, Ryan Newman, Justin Newman, Alison Newman, Ashlyn Newman, and one on the way (due May 2009); and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and a great granddaughter, Emma Rae Myers.
