Ralph Dean "Bud" Winterton, 77, of La Grande, died July 5 at a care center in La Grande. His memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Loveland Funeral Chapel.
Bud was born Nov. 13, 1933, to Alberto "Bert" Winterton and Cuba Buchannan Winterton in La Grande. Bud spent his early years in Wallowa. His family moved to La Grande where he attended Riveria Elementary and graduated from La Grande High School.
On Nov. 13, 1952, he married Marilyn Bruins. They were later divorced.
He was employed by Boise Cascade for 44 years.
Bud enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and bench-rest shooting. He loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the NRA and the La Grande Rifle and Pistol Club.
Surviving are his two sons, Randy Winterton and his wife, Terri, of La Grande, and Rick Winterton of La Grande; two brothers, Delbert Eugene "Gene" Winterton and his wife, Connie, of Cookeville, Tenn., and Jerald "Jerry" Winterton of La Grande; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Cuba; and his grandson, Jerrod Winterton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Loveland Funeral Chapel.
