Pina Benedetti Cavinato

Giuseppina "Pina" Benedtti Cavinato, age 82, of La Grande, died January 15, 2005. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Loveland Funeral Chapel. Viewing will be held prior to the Rosary Service from 2:00 until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Grandview Mausoleum.

Pina was born January 8, 1923 in Taranto, Italy to Domenico and Maria Rizzo Benedetti. After completing high school and working as a bookkeeper for the local Navy base, she moved to Venice in 1948 where she met her husband, Silvia Caveat. They were married January 14, 1952. She followed him on several military assignments until 1956 when Silvia retired and they moved to Tarrant. In 1983 they moved to La Grande to be close to their only daughter and her family. Pina enjoyed cooking and caring for her three grandchildren. She had a wonderful sense of humor and most of all loved people's company, family members said. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Anna Caveat and David Mays, and three grandchildren, Christina, Laura and Mark, all of La Grande; and several nieces and nephews who live in Italy. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Red Cross La Grande Chapter.
