Pete Erwin Droke

January 21, 1916 — October 21, 2002

Pete Erwin Droke passed away peacefully at his home in Union Oregon on Monday, 21 October 2002.

He was born 21 January 1961 on the family farm near Telecaset, Oregon to Samuel and Sara Droke. Pete was the youngest of five brothers and one sister. Pete married Marceile G. Alexander and raised two sons and a daughter. Pete worked at ranch work, local sawmill, and the Union Meat Market in his early years. He spent most of his life working for the Union County Road Department until his retirement. He enjoyed most of all his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an avid gardener and loved being outdoors working in his garden. He also was famous for his baking of "cinnamon rolls" that he freely shared with neighbors and friends; and, of course his world class "sourdough hot cakes" which he cooked for many years at the Eastern Oregon livestock Show Cowboy Breakfasts.

Pete enlisted in the Oregon army National Guard and served with the local guard unit: Company E/186 Infantry/41st Infantry Division in New Guinea during World War II. He was a Master Sergeant Chief Cook. He enjoyed all his many friends and had fond memories and stories of those years.

Pete enjoyed life and worked hard to provide for his family which survives him. His wife Marceile, Union: son and daughter-in-law Bob and Becky Droke of Cove; son and daughter-in-law Ron and Sandy Droke of Union and his daughter and son-in-law Vicki and Mike Becker, Union/Cove Highway; grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also has many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

There will be time open for friends to visit and sign at Daniels Chapel of the Valley, Thursday, 24 October from 6:30-7:30 p.m... Graveside Services will be held Friday, 25 October at 11:00 a.m. at the Cove Cemetery. The 3rd Battalion 116th Cavalry of the Oregon Army National Guard will provide Military Honors.
