Peggy Jane Williams, 87, of Wallowa County, died May 26 in La Grande. She was a resident of Evergreen Vista Health Center at the time of her death. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lostine Presbyterian Church. The Reverend Stephen Kliewer will officiate. Bollman Funeral Home of Enterprise is in charge of the arrangements.
Peggy was born May 16, 1923, to Simmons Oakley and Hallie Young Williams in Enterprise. She lived much of her life with her uncle and aunt, Fred and Angeline Asher of Enterprise.
She especially loved the northeast corner of Oregon and had lived in Wallowa County her entire adult life. She attended schools in Mitchell and Enterprise.
She worked for the Ordinance Depot in Umatilla and also enjoyed working in libraries and doing office work.
She loved her pets and the flowers in her yard. She especially enjoyed trips to Nevada with her sister, Edna, and going on excursions with the senior citizens from Wallowa.
She liked to sew and do craft work. Genealogy was also an interest in her later years.
She is survived by brothers, Bob F. Williams of ldaho, Clyde Williams of Montana and Cliff Williams of Montana; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Edna Spoo.
