Peggy Jean Johnston, 75, died Feb. 28 at her home in Union.
A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at the LDS Church in Union with Bishop Jerrold W. Baxter conducting. Viewing at Loveland Funeral Chapel will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday.
Mrs. Johnston was born April 7, 1930, to Ernest Arthur and Murtle June Scott Hulsey in Valsetz. She attended schools in Salem and completed nurse's training and received her LPN. She then worked at Emanuel Hospital in Portland.
She married Henry Johnston June 7, 1958, in Boring. They were sealed in the Seattle Temple May 21, 1988. In 1995 the couple moved to Union, where they worked as camp hosts for the U.S. Forest Service and Oregon State Parks.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in several capacities, including temple worker, stake missionary and visiting teacher. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren, and serving others. She never met a stranger.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Valerie, of Portland; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Arthur Hulsey, of Roseburg. Her parents, a daughter, Teresa, and a grandson David died earlier.
