Patricia “Patty” Steinbeck formerly of La Grande, died Thursday at her
home in Baker City at the age of 81.
Patricia Eileen was born on March 2, 1943 in Portland, the daughter of
Peter Andrew and Mary Josephine (Mesler) Nehl. She was raised and
educated in Portland, graduating for St. Joseph Academy in 1961. On
August 25, 1967 she was married to Frank Steinbeck in Payette, Idaho.
They lived in La Grande, Enterprise and Baker City.
Patty worked for the State of Oregon in the accounting department of the
Powder River Correctional Facility for several years until her retirement.
Patty was a lifelong devoted member of the Catholic Church. Things she
enjoyed include: quilting, animals and gardening.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years Frank Steinbeck of Baker City,
her brother Wayne Nehl of Woodburn, her step-daughter Linda Bustad of
Stanwood, Washington, 2 step grandchildren Shelley and Razzy , 3 step
great-grandchildren Michael, Ryleigh and Kaylie .
Besides her parents, Pete and Mary Nehl, Patty was preceded in death by
a brother Bruce Nehl and sister Judy Wood.
Contributions in memory of Patricia E. Steinbeck may be made to the
Catholic Church.
