Patricia Lee Mickel

Patricia Lee Mickel, age 93, of La Grande, died October 5, 2009 at Grande Ronde Hosptial. A rosary will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street in La Grande. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Committal and internment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mrs. Mickel was born on November 22, 1915, the daughter of Daniel and Josie (Weaver) Sievers in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She worked as a clerk in the tax collector's office in San Bernardino, California. She was a member of the San Bernardino County Employee Association and the San Bernardino County Employee Retirement Association. She moved to La Grande from Rialto, California in November of 1986. She enjoyed sewing, reading, walking and composing lyrics to music.

Survivors include her sons, Nicholas Mickel and Patrick Mickel, both of California; daughter, Michele Mickel of California; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by brother, Edward Sievers and sisters, Verna Greer, Mildred Osborne and Floreine McMaster.
