Patricia Ann Hodges

June 23, 1941 — March 27, 2010

Patricia Ann Hodges, 68, of Boise and formerly of Elgin, died peacefully March 27 at her daughter's home in Boise after a 23-year battle with cancer.

All are invited to the funeral at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church, 2612 W. State Street in Boise.

Father Arnold Miller will officiate. Flower arrangements should be sent to Boise Funeral Home, Aclesa Chapel, 8209 W. Fairview Ave., Boise 83704.

Everyone is also invited to the grave-side service at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Elgin Cemetery. Father Christopher will officiate. A reception will follow at the Catholic church hall in Elgin.

Patricia was born June 23, 1941. She grew up in Elgin where she graduated from Elgin High School in 1959 and later graduated from Boise State University with a degree in education. Pat grew up enjoying riding horses with her sister and four cousins on the Wade farm about five miles northeast of Elgin. Her first horse, an old gray mare, Christy, was a particular favorite of hers.

Patricia loved music and took piano lessons, played the flute in the Elgin High School band and took voice lessons with her lifelong friend, Lilas McCollum.

Patricia was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church, loved making quilts to comfort others and enjoyed playing bridge and helping anybody who passed through her door.

Those who knew Patricia say she touched the lives of many people in positive, generous ways. They say her angel figurines were a small representation of the prayers she extended.

Patricia is survived by her daughter, Anne, and her husband, Alex Reyes; sister, Joy and her husband, Will Keating; four nieces; and 11 grandnieces and grandnephews. Patricia was preceded in death by parents, Abner and Iris Wade.

Over the years, those who knew Pat say her love, warmth and generous spirit drew a number of young people to her, whom she affectionately called her eclectic extended kids.
