Patti Hardwick, 82, of Island City passed away May 16, at a local care facility, with her family by her side. A memorial service will begin at 11:00a.m. Friday, May 27, at Daniels - Knopp Life Celebration Center. Burial of her ashes will be at Grandview Cemetery.
Patti was born in Island City to Thomas Houston Blackman and Lucinda Davis Blackman on January 2, 1929. She grew up in Island City and lived there until she married Wandell "Buck" Hardwick on February 14, 1948 in Baker, OR. They lived in Walla Walla, WA. for 3 years and returned to Island City and have lived there since.
Patti was a homemaker for most of her life and worked for a few years as a nurses' aide in the OB department at Grande Ronde Hospital in the 1970's. She loved music, sports and fishing but the most important thing in her life was her family.
She is survived by her husband, of 63 years, children; Cindy and Morris Sawyer, of Union, OR, Sue and Ken Venutolo and Edna and Doug Henderson of La Grande. Nyla and Rick Rhoton of Santee, CA. and Jim and Donna Hardwick of Green Brier, AR. Sister, Clara Huff of College Place, WA. Brother-in-laws, John Hardwick of Baker City, Rocky and Pam Hardwick of La Grande and Sister-in-law Sally and Roger Welter of Portland, OR. 19 grandchildren, 35 great and 4 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Levi, Walt and Bob Blackman and sister, Kathleen Sanderson. In lieu of flowers Patti requested that donations be made to your favorite charity.
