Pat Brown, age 64, of La Grande, passed away on Thursday morning February 18, 2011 at St. Alphonses Hospital in Boise, ID.
She was born Patricia Ruth Kehr to Ewald and Edna Kehr on May 18, 1946 in Fairmont, Minnesota where she spent her early childhood. The family relocated to Grants Pass Oregon in 1952. Joining her in the family were siblings Dan and baby sister Barbara. She graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1965. She married the love of her life, Jerry Brown in Reno Nevada on March 3, 1967.
They started their family in the Southern Oregon area, adding daughters Nancy and Julie. Pat's favorite pastime was going to yard sales. She could spend hours at one yard sale just rummaging thru stuff and would always find lots of good treasures. Pat also enjoyed collecting and reading cookbooks. She had over a 1000 cookbooks. She loved to cook and bake. Pat loved bowling in her younger years. She competed in league bowling making lifelong friends in the process. She was active in Faith Lutheran church in La Grande. Pat also played Bunco and belonged to a Bunco group that got together once a month to play. Taking drives in the woods and looking for wildlife was also one of her favorite pass-times. Pat was loved by everyone. It didn't matter where she was she would always strike up a conversation with anyone. Pat also loved going and watching wrestling.
Pat is survived by her husband, Jerry Brown; her two daughters and their husbands; Nancy Broyles and Pete of Lewiston Idaho and their children Willie and Katie; Julie Blake and her husband Jim and Julie's three children; Tracey and Travis Huffman and Shahnala Brown; Pat's brother, Dan Kehr and his wife Maura; Pat's sister Barbara Seavert and her husband Gale. Pat also has many nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ewald and Edna Kehr and a brother, David, who passed away when she was younger.
Funeral services will be held on March 5th, 2011 at Faith Lutheran Church in La Grande, Oregon at 11:00 a.m. with a graveside service following. Then there will be a luncheon and gathering in the Congregational hall at the church.
Those who wish may make contributions in her memory to the Faith Lutheran Church or the Oregon Trail Diabetes Association in care of Daniels~Knopp, 1502 7th Street in La Grande.
