Patricia "Pat" A. Boesel

April 4, 1943 — March 11, 2011

Patricia A. "Pat" Boesel, 67, of Boise and formerly of North Powder, died March 11 with her husband and children by her side. Pat fought a difficult battle with lung cancer for 4 1/2 months. Graveside services were held March 21 at Cloverdale Memorial Park. A reception followed at Cloverdale Funeral Home Reception Center.

Pat was born April 4, 1943, in Yuba City, Calif., to A.D. and Lyda Adkins. She grew up at Omo Ranch, Calif., a small sawmill town in the Sierra foothills. Pat graduated from El Dorado Hills High School in 1961. On July 1 of that same year, she married Jack Boesel in River Pines, Calif.

Jack and Pat made their first home in River Pines, where their son, Terry, was born. The family then moved to Winthrop, Wash., to start farming and raising cattle. Pat was fully involved in all aspects of farming and ranching, including swathing, baling and pulling calves. Their daughter, Vicci, was born while the family lived in Winthrop. Pat and Jack later moved to the North Powder area in the late 1970s when they bought a ranch on Bagwell Road.

Pat was a housewife but also worked at the Korner Kitchen Café as a cook. After Terry graduated in 1980, the family moved to Fruitland, Idaho.

After they retired in 2000, they moved to Boise to be near their daughter, Vicci, and her husband, Mark, and the grandchildren. Pat stayed busy attending the grandkids' soccer, baseball and football games. She traveled to California several times a year to be with Terry and his wife, Joan, and watch their two daughters' baseball games.

Pat's favorite hobby during her retirement was to catch any type of sporting event that involved her grandchildren. She could be found in Arizona, California, Nevada, Idaho and Minnesota on softball, soccer, and football fields and in gymnasiums. Her other favorite hobby was bowling. Pat also enjoyed Boise State football, fishing, camping, snow tubing and jet skiing with her grandkids.

Pat is survived by her husband, Jack of Boise; her sister, Liz (Terry) Baggerman of Placerville, Calif.; her son, Terry (Joan) Boesel of Yorba Linda, Calif.; her daughter, Vicci (Mark) Lavin of Chanhassen, Minn; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Dennis.

In lieu of flowers, the Boesel family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Luke's Hospital Hospice Care, 325 W. Idaho St, Boise 83702.
