Orval Willard Trump, 85, of La Grande, died May 11 at a local care center.
A graveside service will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 15 at the Summerville Cemetery in Summerville. A viewing will run from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Loveland Funeral Chapel.
Orval was born on July 29, 1922, to Fredrick and Lula (Sanner) Trump in Promise. He attended school in a one-room school house in Promise, then moved to Elgin when he was 8. He graduated from Elgin High School, then went into the service in 1942, joining the Navy.
He married Grace McVay in 1943, lived in Grande Ronde Valley until 1967, then moved to the Yakima Valley until 1969, then to Pendleton. He lived there until 2001, when he moved back to the Grande Ronde Valley. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, and helped build and was a member of the First Christian Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
He is survived by his children, James Trump of Corvallis, Gene and his wife, Virginia Trump of Corvallis, Jerry Trump of Issaquah, Wash., and Marsha and her husband, Bruce Rynearson, of La Grande; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
