Olive Rosemary Schultz

September 18, 1923 — May 30, 2005

Olive Rosemary Schultz, age 81, of La Grande, died Monday, May 30, 2005 at her home. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. at the Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor Roger Cochran officiating. Private family interment was held at the Hillcrest Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Schultz was born on September 18, 1923, the daughter of William H. and Lena (Blake) Crews in Madras, Oregon. In 1940 she married James Bird and they lived in Prineville until 1956 when they moved to Waitsburg, Washington. In 1971 they moved to La Grande and he preceded her in death in 1976. She worked as a clerk for various drug stores. In 1986 she married Jack Schultz and he preceded her in death on March 24, 2004. Mrs. Schultz was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she served as the church pianist. She loved crocheting and her passion was flower gardening.

Survivors include her children, Margaret Alvarado of Simi Valley, California, Walter Bird of Dixie, Washington and Edward Bird of El Paso, Texas; ten grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; several great grandchildren; brother, William H. Crews of Hood River, Oregon; sisters, Loretta Schmitt of Beaverton, Oregon and Ann Gerald of Tuson, Arizona; and other relatives and friends. Brothers, Francis and Joseph and sisters, Iva, Mona and Leah preceded her in death.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Trinity Baptist Church or the charity of one's choice in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon 97850.
