Ogden Lincoln Wing

February 12, 1920 — December 28, 2010

Ogden Lincoln Wing, 90, of Union, died Dec. 28 at his home. A graveside service with military honors will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the Lone Pine Cemetery in Wamic.

Following the service, there will be a potluck reception at the Wamic Community Church. For potluck information, call Deanna McDowell at 541-544-2189.

Ogden was born Feb. 12, 1920, to Henry Patrick and Elsie (Savage) Wing at Wamic. He lived his entire life in Wamic, until this past year when he moved to Union to be near his son, Mark, and his family. Ogden was actively caring for his animals up until his death.

Ogden and Dorothy LaVonne Alsup married in 1945. His occupation was logger and farmer. He was a life time Legionnaire and for his service in World War II, he was awarded a Bronze Star, receiving an honorable discharge with the rank of staff sergeant.

In high school, he was awarded the most inspirational football player. He coached Little League, was active in the VFW and served on the Wamic School Board.

He was also involved with the local museum and historical society.

For many years, he walked miles as the ditch walker for the local irrigation company.

He enjoyed puttering around his farm, walking and caring for his chickens and cows.

Ogden is survived by his children and their spouses, Steve and Susie Wing of Fort Worth, Texas, and Mark and Judy Wing of Union; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVonne; and his parents, Henry and Elsie.
