Nova Jean Hallgarth

Nova Jean Hallgarth, 81, of Elgin died July 11, 2006 at a care center in La Grande. A celebration of life will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Loveland Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Hallgarth was born July 15, 1924 to John and Ethel Croghan Widell in Elgin. She attended school in Elgin and on May 16, 1942 she married Myron James Hallgarth in La Grande. She was a life member of the Jewel Rebekah Lodge and a member of the Elgin Promenaders square dance club, the VFW Auxiliary, the Elgin TV Association, where she served as treasurer and the Rockwall Grange where she served as secretary. She enjoyed the outdoors, spending time with family, puzzles and crochet.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Donna Jean and Jim Trump, James and Risa Hallgarth and Wayne Hallgarth, all of Elgin; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Dale "Bud" and Marcy Widell; a sister-in-law, Helen Smith, all of Elgin; and other relatives. Her husband and two grandchildren died earlier.
