Norman "Dale" Pierson

October 4, 1933 — October 24, 2005

Norman "Dale" Pierson, age 72 of La Grande, died Monday, October 24, 2005 at his home after a short illness. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grandview Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Norman "Dale" Pierson was born on October 4, 1933, the son of Charles Kenneth and Delpha (O'Neil) Pierson in La Grande, Oregon. Dale attended schools in La Grande and graduated with the class of 1951. On February 4, 1953 he married Floye Coffer in Las Vegas, Nevada. He enlisted in the United States Navy where he served as a recruiter and served on aircraft carriers such as the USS Oriskany. He was stationed at numerous locations across the country as well as being a supervisor at the NAS in Lakehurst, New Jersey. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to La Grande and owned several service stations and was later employed with Boise Cascade and retired after 20 years of employment. Dale enjoyed fly-fishing, hunting, camping, coaching all levels of baseball, bowling, playing softball while in the Navy and also after moving back to La Grande and most of all he loved his family.

Survivors include his wife, Floye Pierson of La Grande; children and their spouses, Kirk and Sheri Pierson of La Grande, Brent and Cindy Pierson of Roseburg, Oregon, Nikki Carlson of La Grande, Frank Carlson of Baker City and Tricia and Bruce Anson of Broomfield, Colorado; brothers and their spouses, Bruce and Marilyn Pierson of Bremerton, Washington, Bill Pierson of West Virginia, Gary Pierson and companion Lynn Duncan of La Grande and Baltimore, Maryland; sisters and their spouses, Leora and Kent Houston of Clovis, California and Penny Martin of McMinnville, Oregon; grandchildren, Jeni, Skyler, Micah, Calen, McKayla, Jaelee, Kennedy, Jason, Dustin, Jesse, Tailee, Haaven, Shilo, Montana, Danielle and Andreea; great-grandchildren, Brody, Ethan, Tanner, Quentin, Jaden, Landon, Aspyn, Jehdeiah, Nekoda and Indigo and other relatives and friends. His parents, brother, Kenny Pierson, grandchildren, Clint Pierson and Sierra Carlson all preceded him in death.
