Norma Ellen (Erickson) Rogers, age 85, of Elgin, died March 25, 2007 at her home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Elgin Church of the Nazarene.
Mrs. Rogers was born on January 17, 1922, the daughter of Lawrence and Emma I. (Bickford) Hawes in La Grande. She graduated from La Grande High School. In 1941 she married Manuel Erickson in Idaho. The marriage later ended and in 1947 she married Ernest Rogers in La Grande. He preceded her in death in 1992.
Mrs. Rogers worked first as a waitress and later as a Certified Nurses Aide in a nursing home in Tacoma, Washington. She returned to Union County in 1981. She was Past President of the Eagles Auxiliary and she loved going to senior meals on the bus. She was an avid yard saler and enjoyed working in her flower garden and dancing. In her later years she loved to sit outside and watch the wildlife and animals.
Survivors include her sons, Fred Erickson of Elgin, Shannon Rogers of La Grande and Chuck Rogers of La Grande; sisters, Phyllis Hayter of Canby, Ruby Hohn of Arizona and Doris Goodin of Myrtle Creek; brothers, Kenneth Hawes of Portland and Ronald Hawes of Seattle; seventeen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Erickson.
