A memorial service for Nola Tate, 62, who died June 30, will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Athena Christian Church in Athena. Inurnment will follow at 4 p.m. at the Elgin Cemetery. Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Nola Tate was born Aug. 26, 1946, to Paul M. and Clara (Barton) Abbott in Pocatello, Idaho. She lived in Southern Idaho and Eastern Washington where she attended Oaksdale High School. Nola moved to Elgin in 1964 where she operated a flower shop for a time before moving to La Grande and later settled in Athena in September 1999. She enjoyed quilting, plants, flowers, scrapbooking and most of all loved her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Paul Tracy Tate of Athena, Marlene Meadows of Athena, Paul Thomas Tate Jr. of Elgin, Cathy Harmon of Hermiston and Luella Lee of North Carolina; brother, Dewy Abbott of Port Orchard, Wash.; sister, Lila Watson of Colfax, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Timothy Jefferson Tate; and sister, Laura Martin.
