Nile H. Roe

August 5, 1919 — January 12, 2005

H. Nile Roe, age 85, of La Grande died Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at his home.

At his request there will be no public services. Entombment will be at the Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Roe was born on August 5, 1919, the son of Oscar and Anna Catherine (Breuer) Roe in Trenton, Utah. The family moved to La Grande when he was 2 years of age and he graduated from La Grande High School with the class of 1939. On March 20, 1940 he married Ruth Janette Lillie in Weiser, Idaho. She preceded him in death on October 21, 2002.

Mr. Roe had a 43 year career with Union Pacific Railroad as an Engineer. He was a member of the La Grande Elks Lodge and the La Grande Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed bird hunting, fishing, feeding birds in his yard and reading books on Northwest and Native American history.

Survivors include his daughter, Susan Bohlman of Hood River; sons, Terry Roe of Boring, Oregon and Bob Roe of Aloha, Oregon; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the charity of one's choice in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon 97850.
