Nellie Mae Thomas

December 5, 1919 — January 13, 2009

Nellie Mae Thomas, age 90, of La Grande, died Wednesday at the home of her son in Vancouver, Washington. A funeral will be held at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Committal and interment will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mrs. Thomas was born on December 5, 1919, the daughter of George and Myrtle (Crane) Stewart in Nyssa, Oregon. She was educated in Nyssa and on November 16, 1940, she married Elbur Thomas. She worked in retail sales and was a member of the VFW. She enjoyed gardening, bowling and fishing.

Survivors include her sons, Elton Thomas of Camano Island, Washington and John Thomas of Vancouver; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brother, Wilbur Stewart of Ontario; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Dennis and Wayne, and brothers, David, Joe and Charlie.
