Nathan "Punk" Ray Coe

June 1, 1940 — July 6, 2003

Nathan Ray "Punk" Coe, age 63, of Elgin and formerly of North Pole, Alaska, died Sunday, July 6, 2003 after an extensive battle with diabetes and kidney failure.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 14, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. the Elgin Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Flowers can be sent to the church. Those who wish may make contribution in his memory to the Elgin Ward of the LDS Church in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon 97850. The family thanks you for your support and sympathies.

Punk Coe was born on June 1, 1940, the son of Harsley and Lee Ellen (Breshears) Coe in La Grande and was raised in Elgin. In 1958 he graduated from Elgin High School and later attended OTI.

At the age of 15 he began his driving career and has driven from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to Miami Beach, Florida. He raised his family in North Pole, Alaska and he returned to Elgin when he retired. He loved to hunt and fish, enjoyed reloading and was a fantastic photographer. He was a member of the Elgin Ward LDS Church, the Eagles Lodge, the Moose Lodge, the Good Sam Club and the Alaska Teamsters #959.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Linda Coe of Elgin, daughters, Cynthia Henderson of San Antonio, Texas, Shellie Holden of Wallowa and Melissa Gentleman of La Grande; sixteen grandchildren; brother, Kenneth Coe of Elgin; special fishing friend, Tyson Evans; and many friends and family.
