Nancy Lou Golden

Nancy Lou Golden, 72, of Florence and formerly of Union, died Sept. 25 at her home.

Services have already been held. The Rev. Ernie Smith officiated.

Nancy was born March 21, 1936, to Louis and Martha Eckle in Columbus, Ohio.

She married Frank Golden Aug. 24, 1955, in Columbus. The couple raised four children and traveled for 20 years while Frank served in the U.S. Air Force as a lieutenant colonel and pilot. The Goldens lived in many places including Arizona, California, Ohio, New Jersey, Japan, The Philippines, Florida, Okinawa and Illinois.

Nancy survived cancer in her 30s and later went to nursing school and got her LPN degree in St. Louis.

Upon moving to Oregon in 1975, she completed her RN degree at Lane Community College and worked 17 years as a neonatal intensive care nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene.

After retiring, both Nancy and Frank enjoyed living on the Oregon Coast in Florence and spent winters in Casa Grande, Ariz.

Nancy loved to quilt, cook, do crossword puzzles and play cards with her friends and family. She was known for making beautiful quilts and delicious pies.

She is survived by her husband, Frank; children, Cindy and her husband, Roy Mosqueda of Hillsboro, Kathy and her husband, Kirby Stross of Hibbing, Minn., Frank and his wife, Christine Golden of Silverton and Patti and her husband Jim Martin of La Grande; brother, Hugh and his wife, Nancy Eckle of Greenwood, Ind.; sisters, Susie and her husband, Bob LeBeau of Grove City, Ohio, and Criss and Lynn Wehr of Westerville, Ohio; nine grandchildren.

Donations may be sent to Sacred Heart Medical Center NICU, P.O. Box 10905, Eugene 97440. The funds will go toward purchasing artwork for the new Sacred Heart Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
