Nancy Rae Carpenter, age 60, of La Grande, died Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at her home of natural causes. A celebration of life potluck gathering will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Catherine Creek State Park.
Mrs. Carpenter was born on February 22, 1945, the daughter of Gordon "Bud" and Eunice (Quackenbush) Rogers in Hillsboro, Oregon. She graduated from high school in Hillsboro and on July 15, 1967 she married Kent Carpenter in Hillsboro. In 1972 they moved to La Grande and she worked in the housekeeping department of the Grande Ronde Hospital, 18 years of which she served in the O.R. She enjoyed playing Bingo with the hospital nurses, the outdoors and camping. She and Kent camp hosted around Oregon for many years. She was an animal lover and had a 4-H group for a time and was a judge for the stock show.
Survivors include her husband, Kent Carpenter of La Grande; children, Ky Carpenter of Spokane, Washington and Kc Carpenter of Boise, Idaho; grandchildren, Kira Carpenter of Birmingham, Alabama and Katana Carpenter of Spokane; and other relatives and friends. Brother, William "Bill" Rogers and sister, Connie Rogers, preceded her in death.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Blue Mtn. Humane Association or the Cancer Society in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon 97850.
