Nadyne Brown, 87, of Selah, Wash., and formerly of La Grande died May 18 at the home of her daughter.

Mrs. Brown was born June 14, 1916, to Herman and Irene Kirk in Adams. She attended school in Dayton, Wash., and married Delmas Brown on June 30, 1934, in Dayton. She worked part-time during the summer harvest for the Green Giant Company in Dayton and managed and cooked at the cafe at the sports center there from 1961 to 1966 when she began cooking for the Pendleton School District. She rose to head cook at Sherwood Elementary School, and worked as head cook at Meadowood Springs Speech Camp. She retired in 1986 and moved first to Walla Walla, then to Selah. She often spent summers in La Grande with her son and his family. She was devoted to her family and wished to be allowed to die at home.

Survivors include children and their spouses, Delmas and Barbara Brown of Worley, Idaho, Bob and Jo Brown of McKenna, Wash., Jim and Barbara Brown of La Grande, Gary and Don Brown, both of Louisville, Ky., Joan and Bud Miller of Grand Ronde, Janet and Richard Ogle of Selah, and Sherrill and Howard Bierman of Walla Walla; 34 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren;five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Pat Eggers of Wilsonville, and a daughter-in-law, Pat Brown of Kent, Wash. Her husband, two sons, Kirk and Jack, a daughter Shirley Mills, and five brothers, Fred, Gene, Glen "Swede", Dudley and Norm Kirk, all died earlier.
