Myrtle V. Myers

Myrtle V. Myers, age 99, of Klamath Falls and formerly of Elgin died December 26, 2003 at her home. Burial was at Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens in Klamath Falls.

Mrs. Myers was born March 28, 1904 to Lewis Levi and Martha Ann Riggs Cross at Indian Creek outside of Elgin. She graduated from Elgin High School and from Western Oregon College at Monmouth. She taught school at Pine Grove in Summerville and at Keno, where she met Lawrence Myers. The couple were married on June 16, 1926, in La Grande. The couple farmed in the Klamath Falls area for over 50 years. She was a member and Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star and was a Rainbow Advisor for many years. She enjoyed traveling, visited almost all the states, and attended the Grande Eastern Star Temple in Washington, D.C. Since 1992 she volunteered more than 11,000 hours for the Merle West Medical Center Guild, where she crocheted a lap robe every week and stuffed puppets for children in the hospital.

Survivors include Billie Grimani of Washougal, Washington, Joy Ann Smith of Union, Kay Miller of Bend, Raymond Cross of Elgin, Beverly Horton of Mesa, Arizona and other relatives. Her husband died in 1992. Six brothers, Lee, Raymond, George, Charles, Dell and Walter Cross and two sisters, Geneva McCullough Tarbell and Elsie Hathron, also died earlier.
