Myrtle Geneva Christopher, age 88, of La Grande, died August 14, 2007 at a local care facility. At her request there will be no public services. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.
Mrs. Christopher was born on November 15, 1918, the daughter of Jasper and America Selby in Comanche, Oklahoma. She began school in Oklahoma but later finished it in Los Angeles, California. She worked for Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica as an Inspector until her retirement.
On July 21, 1956, she married Gordon Woodrow Christopher. After her retirement the couple traveled and spent much of their time in Kingman, Arizona. She was devoted to her husband and caring for him before and after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease He preceded her in death a little over two years ago. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and the outdoors. She loved to take rides in the car to enjoy the countryside.
Survivors include her son, Gordon W. Christopher, Jr. of Kingman, Arizona; daughter, Pam D. Alton of Union; brothers, Henry Selby of Wasilla, Alaska and Orbie Selby of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Dawn Nelson of Union and Dale Alton of La Grande; great grandchildren, David Alton of Ritzville, Washington and Jaycob and McKenzey Nelson of Union; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by four sisters.
