Myrna Helen Collins

Myrna Helen Collins, age 83, of Elgin died November 14, 2011 at Robin's Nest Adult Family Home. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday at Noon at the Flying J Travel Center in La Grande. A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Summerville Cemetery.


Myrna was born on June 23, 1928, in Denver Co. The only girl in a blended family of 9 loving brothers of Warren and Pearlie (Morehead) Springer. She came to Eastern Oregon as a child and lived at the Starkey Logging Camp. She graduated from La Grande High School in 1946. She married Raymond Frank Collins August 6, 1946. He preceeded her in death on August 23, 1993. Myrna was very active with the Class of '46, their regular gatherings and reunions. She was a member of the Elgin Service Club for many years, enjoyed making doll houses, gambling, reading, puzzles and most of all, her family.


Survivors include her four daughters, Katherine Wahl of Elgin, Colleen Bynum of Denver, Christine Brown of La Grande and Sharon Sharp of Elgin, their spouses, thirteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
