A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 14, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Committal and interment will follow at the Summerville Cemetery.
Mr. Noyes was born on May 9, 1924, the son of Claude and Leona (Alderman) Noyes in La Grande. He attended school in Imbler and worked on the family cattle ranch at the base of Mt. Harris. In 1941 he married Mary Maxine Watkins. During World War II he enlisted in the United States Navy and after his honorable discharge the family moved to Seattle where he worked in the Bremerton shipyards. He worked as a truck driver for a time while starting his own septic tank business, G & N Septic in Federal Way. He built his business over the years and when he sold it he and his second wife, Millie Nickerson Noyes, who he married on November 3, 1975, purchased a R.V. Park in Ocean Park, Washington. They developed the small park into an active park and she preceded him in death in 1995. He later sold his park and established his own financial loan business and operated it until recently. He was a very hard working man his entire life.
Mr. Noyes was a member of the American Legion, the National Rifle Association and was a strong supporter of the Republican Committee. He was a great athlete and especially loved baseball, playing it well into his adulthood. He helped his children in Little League and later sponsored teams in Federal Way through his business. He had a great love of the Grande Ronde Valley and the Wallowa Mountains and when his parents were alive he and his family made regular trips to this area to visit and hunt and fish. He was an excellent marksman and fisherman and passed on his passion for fishing with his family.
Mr. Noyes was a devoted family man and was a wonderful, affectionate father to all his children. His grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him much joy. He will be greatly missed by entire family.
Survivors include his children, Connie Peare of Mesa, Arizona, Merle and Sharon Noyes of Las Vegas, Nevada, Candy and Harold Thorpe of Seattle, Washington and Mark Noyes and Tania Brunell of Arcata, California; grandchildren, Renee, Kerri, Lance, Becky, Terri and Michael; ten great grandchildren; brother, David Noyes of Elgin; and other relatives and friends.
