Monica Lynn Royse

March 6, 1965 — May 11, 2011

Monica Lynn Royse, 46, of Enterprise, died May 11 after a courageous 12-year battle with breast cancer. A funeral service was held May 16 at Enterprise Christian Church.

Monica was born March 6, 1965, in Caldwell, Idaho.

She spent her career doing what she loved as an elementary teacher until cancer took her out of the classroom. Those who knew her say her No. 1 priority was always her kids and husband.

Monica loved kids and animals. She always had dogs and cats. She supported a young African female orphan named Bongani for many years. Monica enjoyed collecting dolls.

Those who knew her say she was always easy-going and loving. She loved "her" Enterprise community and told her husband, "If you ever leave, be sure to write because I am not leaving."

She loved camping, picking huckleberries, mushrooming, reading, traveling, flowers and cooking. Those who knew her say her No. 1 love was Jesus. She was very proud of the local medical community and hospital.

Those who knew Monica say she always held her head high with faith and optimism even as she had cancer.

She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Patti Schlekeway and brother-in-law, Steve Royse. She is survived by her husband, Brad Royse; children, Reanna, 13, and Dustin, 17; step-son, Joshua Royse, 29; parents, Delbert and Clara Kuntz; father and mother-in-law, Don and Lila Royse; three half siblings; and many other family members.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wallowa Memorial Hospital Cancer Prevention Fund in memory of Monica Royse.
