Miskell Gale, 105, of La Grande and formerly of Union, died Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at her home. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cove Cemetery with Pastor Jerry Peters of the Union United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.
Miskell Gale was born on September 15, 1898, the daughter of William and Cora (Van Schoonhoven) Bloom in Cove, Oregon. She spent her early years in Cove and graduated with the class of 1917. She later meet and married Don Gale and together they moved to Union. She was a life long resident of the Grande Ronde Valley where she spent many years with her husband growing flowers and fruit commercially as well as ranching across the valley. She was an 87 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and enjoyed square dancing where she belonged to both the La Grande and Baker City square dancing clubs. Don preceded her in death on April 7, 1979.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, William and Francis Gale of Hood River, Oregon; grandchildren and their spouse, Kathleen and Don Morris of Corvallis, Oregon, Bob and Ruth Gale of Seattle, Washington and Stephanie Gale-McKnight and Tom McKnight of Beaverton, Oregon; great-grandchildren, William Morris of Corvallis, Oregon, Samuel Morris of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho and Connor and Mieka McKnight of Beaverton, Oregon; dear friends, Virginia Frappier of Union, and Ted and Betty Parrish of Spokane, Washington as well as other relatives and friends. Her daughter, Donna Collins; brothers, Haskell and Edward Bloom and a sister Violet Gorham all preceded her in death.
