Milton "Cub" Harrison Culp

August 12, 1919 — January 7, 2009

Milton Harrison "Cub" Culp, 89, of Hermiston and formerly of Elgin, died Jan. 7 at Deana's Adult Foster Home in Irrigon.

Graveside funeral services with military honors will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at the Hermiston Cemetery.

Milton was born Aug. 12, 1919, to Willis and Myrtle Rice Culp in Spokane.

Milton owned and operated a sawmill in Elgin. In 1962 he went to work for Boise Cascade until 1966. He operated a ranch until 1969, and in 1973 he started and operated a welding shop for many years in Hermiston.

Milton enlisted in the Army Air Corps, serving during World War II in the 401st bombardment group of the B-17s.

He married Gladys on Sept. 25, 1945, in Elgin.

He loved hunting and fishing and the outdoors.

He is survived by his children, Dennis Culp and his wife, Judy of Hermiston, Gary Culp and his wife, Vicki, of Hermiston, Phyllis Martin of Hermiston and Charlotte Deary of Kennewick; several grandchildren; several grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews. Milton was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys; parents; brother, Harold Culp; and sister, Ethel Kennedy.
