Milo "Bill" J. Goss

December 31, 1923 — August 5, 2006

Milo J. "Bill" Goss, age 82, a lifetime resident of La Grande, died August 5, 2006 at the Grande Ronde Hospital.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at the Summerville Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Memorial gathering will follow at 5:00 p.m. at the home of Mark Goss, 62769 Booth Lane, off of Hunter Road in La Grande.

Mr. Goss was born on December 31, 1923, the son of Ada Frances (Colt) and M.J. Goss III, in La Grande, Oregon. He attended La Grande schools, graduating from La Grande High School with the class of 1941 and later graduated from the University of Oregon. During World War II he served with the United States Army from 1943 until 1946. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. On September 7, 1948 he married Donna Knight in La Grande.

Mr. Goss owned and operated the family business, M.J. Goss Motor Company, and worked until the time of his death. He loved his work and had a tremendous work ethic which he passed onto his family. In his younger years he enjoyed Chuker and Pheasant hunting. He enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Richland and traveling, especially to Baja, Mexico and the Oregon Coast. He collected model cars and loved spending time with his family. He was well known for his one-liners. He was a lifetime member of the La Grande Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his children, Garnet Luciano of Boston, Massachusetts, Milo Goss of Enterprise, Mark Goss of La Grande and Susie Hughes of La Grande; brother, Robert Goss of La Grande; sister, Milodene Groupe of Tigard; nine grandchildren, Kaan Kaleli, Kevser Kaleli, M.J. Goss VI, Sara Jones, Chris Jones, Tayde Goss, Caylin Goss, Colton Hughes and Mavric Goss; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; daughter-in-law, Debra Goss, granddaughter, Kailee Bolen and brother, Kenton Goss.
