Mildred Glenva Snider, age 88 of La Grande and formerly of Union, died Sunday, June 26, 2005 at a local care center. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Interment will follow at the Hillcrest East Cemetery.
Mildred Glenva Snider was born on July 11, 1916, the daughter of Roy Lee and Bessie (Resiguee) Brown in Arapahoe, Nebraska. Mildred attended schools in Nebraska and later married Ray Baumeister in Holt County, Nebraska. They raised four children, Elizabeth, Gary, Don and Dorn and their marriage later ended in divorce. Mrs. Snider then married Herbert Snider in Winnemucca, Nevada and the couple had a child Cindy and were later divorced. Mildred owned and operated numerous restaurants including the Airport café in Walla Walla, Walls café in Kennewick, and the Tic Tok in Pasco. She lived in the Hermiston area for many years before moving to the Grande Ronde Valley in 2003. She was an outstanding cook and enjoyed making clocks, quilting, crocheting, gardening and loved to beach comb.
Survivors include her children and their spouses; Elizabeth and Dale Gann of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Gary Baumeister of Unity, Oregon, Don and Geri Baumeister of Bend, Oregon and Cindy and David Harmon of Union, Oregon; fifteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Allison of Springfield, Oregon and brothers, Neil Brown of Palmer, Alaska, David Brown of Glenallen, Alaska; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Her parents, son, Dorn Baumeister, brothers, Lester Brown, Donald Brown and a sister Helen Focken all preceded her in death.
