A Daughter of God - A Journey Thru Time

Mildred Anna Dodge Roe was a daughter of God. Her journey in time was from birth to age 90. The birth of Mildred occurred on June 3, 1913. She died at the age of 90 on February 10, 2004 in Baker, Oregon.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hillcrest Cemetery with The Rev. Mark Schlessman of the First Christian Church officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Mildred was born to parents Anna Jensen Dodge and Levi Dodge in Reeder, North Dakota. She had two brothers, Motier Dodge and Al Dodge and two sisters, Elsa Hammond Boyer and Loraine Dodge Witheral, who all preceded her in death. Mildred was raised in the Dakota's Mildred had moved with her family to La Grande and graduated from high school before returning to The Dakota's to marry Clarence Leroy "Kelly" Roe. They were married October 4, 1932. Clarence was the son of Luella Tanner Roe and Raymond Oscar Roe. Both families were long time residents of La Grande. Mildred was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and worked as a nurse's aide until retiring in 1978. Her husband preceded her in death on October 23, 1990 in Hornbrook, California, where they had been living for a time.

Mildred was involved in many service organizations, liked to travel, loved to bake and cook and grow flowers. She was very artistic and crocheted, sewed and created many beautiful memories to her family with her talents and her beautiful garden.

Mildred and Kelly were parents to four sons and their wives, Donald and Delores Roe of Prospect, Oregon, Dewayne and Carol Roe of John Day, Oregon, Joe Roe of LaPine, Oregon, Kelly Ray Roe.Rohnert Park Calif. Their daughter, Phylis, died at the age of 8 while the family lived in La Grande. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. A great great grandchild will be born in May or June. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
