Mildred Elizabeth Kennedy

September 8, 1915 — April 14, 2006

Mildred Elizabeth Kennedy, age 90, a lifetime resident of Elgin, died Friday, April 14, 2006 at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Elgin Community Center. Committal will follow at the Elgin Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Kennedy was born on September 8, 1915, the daughter of Earl and Emma (Cruikshank) Phillips at Cricket Flat near Elgin, Oregon. She graduated from Elgin High School. Mrs. Kennedy worked at Valley View Care Center for over 20 years. She enjoyed cross stitch, gardening, reading and family. She was a devoted homemaker and an excellent baker.

On February 23, 1935 she married William Howard Kennedy in Elgin. He preceded her in death on January 28, 1981. Survivors include her children, Barbara Prince of Kamiah, Idaho, Richard "Dick" Kennedy of Pendleton, Joyce Beck of Kennewick, Washington, David Kennedy of Elgin and Rex Kennedy of Elgin; sister, Mina Burnett of Springfield, Oregon; 21 grandchildren; numerous great and great great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by sons, Kenneth and Bruce; sister, Evangeline Buschke and brothers, Lewis, Paul, Edwin and Doug Phillips.
