Mildred C. Cunningham

Mildred C. Cunningham, age 93, of La Grande, and formerly of Lower Perry, died Thursday, April 7, 2005 at a local care facility. The funeral service will begin on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley with Pastor Bill Miller of Valley Fellowship officiating. Committal and interment will follow at the Grandview Cemetery.

Mrs. Cunningham was born on June 24, 1911, the daughter of Peter and Amanda Lindquist in Lehigh, Iowa. On April 20, 1930 she married Alva Cunningham in Lehigh. In September of 1936 they moved to Union. In the fall of 1944 they moved to Huntington. In 1946 they returned to La Grande and then lived in Lower Perry from 1946 until 1994. Mr. Cunningham preceded her in death in 1994 and she moved to La Grande to be near family.

Mrs. Cunningham was a wonderful cook and loved to make meals for her family. She enjoyed camping, especially on the Snake River/Hells Canyon area. She loved animals, especially cats, and fed the strays that visited her. After the death of her husband she traveled with her daughter and son-in-law to Arizona.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Harriet and Martin Girrard of La Grande; four grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Seven siblings, a daughter and son-in-law, Thelma and Albert "Bud" Coffin and a grandson, Gary Girrard, preceded her in death.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Blue Mtn. Humane Society in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon 97850.
