Michael Joseph Mcshane

Michael Joseph McShane, 58, formerly of La Grande, died September 12, 2006 in Columbia, Maryland of pancreatic cancer. Memorial services were conducted September 21, 2006 in Maryland. He will be buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery November 29.

Mr. McShane, a retired lieutenant commander in the United States Navy, was born February 4, 1948 in Ontario and grew up in La Grande. He graduated from La Grande High School in 1966 and attended Eastern Oregon University before joining the Navy in 1968. He married Isabel Kidd in 1972. He retired from the Navy in 1998 and worked for Welkin-Nicholas Research as a systems engineering contractor until he died.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Lee and his wife, Tara; daughter, Kelly; his mother, Margaret of La Grande; brothers, Brian, Jeffrey and Gregory; sisters, Rebecca and Maureen; and other relatives. His father, Francis and a brother, Kirk, died earlier.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the giver's choice or by taking a moment of solitary reflection, or to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 2141 Rosecrans Avenue, El Segundo, California.
