Funeral services for Michael "Mike" Kimmelshue, 53, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, January 12, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. in the First Assembly of God Family Church with Pastor Andy Salagaj and Pastor Paul Barnes officiating.
Mike was born October 4, 1952 in La Grande Oregon, to John and Eva (Abell) Kimmelshue, and died Sunday, January 8, 2006 in a local hospital. Mike's early years were spent in La Grande, Oregon and the nearby town of Island City, Oregon. He attended school in Springfield, Oregon and Saratoga, Wyoming. He also attended Northwest College in Kirkland, Washington. In 1978 the Kimmelshue family moved to Lufkin, Texas, and Mike followed the next year. He had lived in Lufkin since that time. Mike was a long-time member of the First Assembly of God Family Church. He dearly loved his church family, music, his children and above all, his God. The family and his many friends have rich memories of Mike.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Diana Kimmelshue of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Christie and Nathan Freeman of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren, MaKayla and Evan Freeman, both of Orlando, Florida; parents, John and Eva Kimmelshue of Hood River, Oregon; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Kay Kimmelshue of Jacksonville, Oregon; nephew and niece, Andy and Nicole Kimmelshue, both of Jacksonville, Oregon; and fiancée, Dori Hope of San Marcos.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Assembly of God Family Church Building Fund, 2021 S. John Redditt Dr., Lufkin, Texas 75904. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home, Lufkin, directors.
